Meet the Grande Dames of Historical Fiction!

I attended the Historical Novel Society conference in June, and was delighted to meet some of my own favorite historical fiction authors.  I hope you enjoy these photos, and that you find some of your own beloved authors here, as well.

barbara
This is me with fellow Kensington author Barbara Kyle.  Barbara focuses on the Tudor era, and her Thornleigh family saga (THE QUEEN’S LADY, THE KING’S DAUGHTER) is selling like crazy.

lauren
Lauren Willig is the author of the highly successful PINK CARNATION series.  She’s as adorable and perky in person as her light-hearted books lead you to believe.

margaret
I was delighted to spend a little time with Margaret George, who writes thick and juicy historical fiction ranging from characters as fascinating as Mary Queen of Scots to Cleopatra.  Her AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF HENRY VIII is not to be missed.

michelle
What a treat to meet Michelle Moran.  She has specialized in writing about ancient Egypt, but we were both surprised to learn that we’re each now writing about the great waxworker, Madame Tussaud.  The difference?  Michelle is writing about Tussaud’s early life in France, through 1796, whereas my story will pick up with a fictional apprentice of Tussaud’s in 1803.  So buy both books! Both novels will be out in 2011.

“The Queen” Visits Regional Library, Ft. Meade in Maryland

Queen Marie Antoinette (a.k.a. Christine Trent) made a recent visit to the Calvert Regional Library for its 50th Anniversary celebration.  Almost 20 local authors were on hand to sign books and chat with readers.  Local dignitaries also stopped by to join in the fun.

Senator Dodson
The Queen met with several “foreign dignitaries,” including Maryland State Senator Roy Dyson

The Queen also stopped by the Retired Officers Wives Club luncheon at Ft. Meade on May 5th to say hello to all of her loyal subjects.  Read about it here.
